Experience Mudita Melody
August 15, 2026 @ 4:30PM — 8:30PM Pacific Time (US & Canada) Add to Calendar
Season 1: A Cross-Cultural Celebration of Indian Classical Music
Join us for a musical evening with Marshmallow Minds and the BayRaagis in a peaceful, intimate setting and experience Carnatic and Hindustani classical music through the spirit of Mudita.
Mudita Melody is the art of making music that is entirely unselfish, celebrating each other's gifts.
THE MUDITA CANVAS
Over centuries, Indian classical music primarily developed through two styles or traditions - Hindustani (North Indian) and Carnatic (South Indian). As each tradition produced virtuoso performers and composers, there was mutual respect and appreciation between them. As a result, several raags have been adapted from one tradition into another by generations of artists. The richness of Indian culture lies in these fruitful interactions.
And thus, the challenge to Mudita performers is -
Artists trained in the Hindustani style will present a raag that has been borrowed/adapted from the Carnatic tradition into Hindustani. Artists trained in the Carnatic style will do the reverse.
With curiosity, creativity, and collaboration at the core of each performance, eight artists have taken up the Raag challenge! From first-time performers to performing musicians, artists will step beyond their comfort zone to explore, experiment, and engage the audience through their love for Indian classical music.
We have a unique mix of solo talents, collaborations, and a major headliner/guest performance!
HEADLINER: CONAL SATHI, Indo-Jazz Pianist
With Rahul Zingde on Tabla.
Conal Sathi is an Indo-jazz pianist who blends Eastern and Western music. He began his training at age 5 with the family of ghazal master Mehdi Hassan and currently studies with Hindustani classical keyboardist Abhijit Pohankar, a disciple of the legendary santoorist Pandit Shivkumar Sharma. He has performed across the US and India, sharing the stage with A.R. Rahman, Padma Shri Penaz Masani, and Grammy winner Tanvi Shah.
