Surabhi is hosting a benefit event and raising funds to support Marshmallow Minds education and community outreach programs.

The Music of Moods from Carnatic California

I founded CarnatiCalifornia 6 years back, with the mission of making music education accessible to all, especially to those who have not had a chance to pursue it but always had an interest. When I learned about Marshmallow Minds, I was inspired by how they are making Design Thinking and STEAM (Science Technology Engineering Art Math) education accessible to all.

I could see how simple and yet how powerful Design Thinking is for creative exploration, guided mastery of any skill, including music, and ultimately building one's creative confidence--which is about believing in your ability to create change in the world around you. I could see how I have crossed paths with Design Thinking many times in my own journey unknowingly.

This Golu festival season I am delighted to bring Music Thinking to you where my passion for music meets Marshmallow Minds' passion for Design Thinking. There are many feel-good elements for you to experience and your evening with us will escape the ordinary. This event will be a unique opportunity to put you in a great mood!

Join us on October 9th, Saturday evening at 7:00 PM PST (October 10th, Sunday morning at 7:30 AM IST) designed to be a confluence of music and moods to make memorable moments together.

With $25.00, you can gift 5 hours of student scholarships!

For less than the cost of a family dinner out, you can provide a highly engaging future-ready experiential education that teaches children how to stay curious, collaborative, and creative -- these are the foundations of lifelong learning. This school year more than ever schools and communities need you. Please help and make this year's Golu a really good experience for the community and you.

For those of you who I am meeting for the first time...

I am a , , and a . I specialize in Indian classical & film music, love musical storytelling, and experimenting with cross-cultural music.

I grew up in a musically inclined family, starting my training from my mother, Padma Vijayaraghavan, an accomplished disciple of Padma Bhushan Shri TV Gopalakrishnan.

I transitioned from a career in engineering to pursue music, and have since founded CarnatiCalifornia, an endeavor to popularize Carnatic music from Southern India, and make it more accessible to a larger audience.

I am certified in world music and music production from the prestigious Berklee College of Music. I continue my advanced Carnatic music training from Kalaimamani KN Shashikiran.
