Marshmallow Minds exists to provide access to the knowledge and skills necessary for STEAM-enabled careers, especially in under-resourced schools and communities, and we have been successfully delivering on it.
In the 2023-24 school year, we engaged over 8000 students, a 260% increase from the previous year. We adeptly navigated the pandemic and innovated our critical services at a time when our students and teachers needed the most help. And now we are asking for your support to do it again!
WE ARE ADDRESSING A PRESSING EDUCATION NEED
Most children in our Title-1 partner schools have limited access to experiential STEAM and do not have access to Design Thinking, a simple yet powerful problem-solving process. In the 2023-24 school year, More than 80% percent of middle school students in our Title-1 partner schools reported that they are getting exposure to experiential STEAM and Design Thinking through Marshmallow Minds programs.
Research from Harvard's School of Public Health underscores a stark reality: the mental health crisis, COVID-19 pandemic, and climate change are hitting low-income families hardest, exposing an urgent need. In a world fraught with challenges, future-ready problem-solving isn't a luxury; it's a lifeline for under-resourced communities.
Now, more than ever, equipping Title-1 school students with hands-on STEAM education and Design Thinking is essential—not just to keep up but to pioneer new solutions in a landscape of unknowns. Starting young, they can cultivate the confidence and resilience to confront and transform the challenges shaping tomorrow.
